Learning Outcome #6 (sentence-level error)

Outcome 6 (Sentence-Level Error) – Control sentence-level error (grammar, punctuation, spelling)

When I first entered this semester, I was already fairly confident in my ability to formulate grammatically correct sentences, and also use a wide vocabulary. So focusing on this aspect of my writing was not that pressing for me, as I mostly wanted to focus on the content itself. However, I soon discovered after submitting my first essay that I didn’t totally understand proper punctuation for in-line citations. As the following will show, I had a lot of comments by Professor Brod to correct my period placements.

Example from essay #1

As shown by the pink dots on this example, I placed periods where they should not have been. I quickly fixed this by the second essay. This mistake was genuinely the only real sentence-level error issues I had regarding my punctuation and grammar.

example from essay #3

This example from essay #3 demonstrates correct punctuation for both quotations from Cadagon and Mclaughlin/Serhan.
